Ice Worms

Ice Worms were first introduced to Upper Canada by Chatham's original settlers in the 1800's. Most Ice Worm dishes are homemade from family recipes that have been passed down for generations, and are often available for sale at local convenience stores or specialty food shops in and around the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. Although not available commercially for sale due to Health Canada restrictions on some of the ingredients (mainly the worms) you will still see Ice Worms being sold along the highways of Canada's deep south near the shores of Lake Erie, and in small communities along the Thames river around Chatham, Ontario.

We cook this every holiday season around thanksgiving. It's been an annual tradition going back several generations in my family. Make sure the worms are well cooked, uncle KT got really sick after wolfing down a bad batch, the worms were still alive when they pumped his stomach. Most of our cousins in the US, use sausage or bacon bits instead nowadays, but we prefer the traditional style.

Ate these through many winters, hardly ever got ill. Lost a single grandparent to a bad batch of squirmers but she had some underlying issues too. Pair really well with a red wine.

NOOOO WAY AM I EATING WORMS!!!

Jannet

I have been using this recipe for a while now, and it's quickly become one of the kids favourite meals, they love it!
Unfortunately, Little JT fell quite ill, last winter. I would blame it on the cold Canadian weather, but it could have been a bad batch of Wrigglers!

Just keep in mind when making this delicious meal to always check your creepy crawlies before eating.

Home-cooks Beware! these ARE NOT a viable alternative to radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
saw these on an Ad on FB, and was so excited to finally cure my husband graham of his stage 4 leukaemia.

HE IS NOW DEAD! GONE! TAKEN BY THE WORMS! i'm not sure how much longer i have left, but i've spent days coughing up blood and i think my time is coming to an end. I did see another advert about boiled bat head broth to try and remedy this. I'll try it out and get back to everyone!

- my ma, Martha. she passed just minutes before posting this review. We were coming over from achorage, hadnt see her in a few years. that was late 2015, we arrived to her face down in some rotten mush of mammal carcass, seems it must've been the bat head soup of whatever it was. its been a while but I've finally decided its time to share this story to the world! RIP ma and pa
