Discover the World of Smoked Salmon

Smoked salmon's texture is silky smooth, with its smoky and buttery taste, it's superb for every occasion. Smoked salmon is a popular and healthy ingredient for many dishes. It can be paired with a variety of cheeses, capers, fresh dill, red onion and lemon. It is prepared typically using a fillet that has been cured and it hot and cold smoked.

Hot Smoked Salmon Hot smoked salmon is cooked at a high temperature. The result is firm, flaky and full of flavour.

Cold Smoked Salmon Cold smoked salmon is a specialized process where the salmon is cured. The result is mouth watering, moist, tender salmon.

Atlantic Smoked Salmon In the case of Atlantic Salmon, fat is flavour. Since Atlantic salmon has a higher content of natural oil than its wild counterparts, it has a more buttery smooth flavour, and some will argue, is more flavourful.

Wild Sockeye Smoked Salmon The Sockeye Salmon is the smallest, most delicate of the Alaska Wild salmon family. These wild salmon are sought after for their unique flavour and bright red, extra firm texture. Wild Smoked Salmon is exceptionally rich in flavour, and has a vibrant reddish colour.

Smoked Steelhead Salmon Smoked Steelhead Salmon has a mild, nut-like flavour. The flesh is pink or orange. Its rich oil content and large flakes enable its delicate taste and silky texture.

Handing and Storage Smoked salmon can be kept refrigerated for up to one week after opening. It can also be frozen for up to three months. It is best to store in the original package, or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap to prevent dryness. Do not store smoked salmon with raw food products. Smoked salmon is already cooked, so it typically needs no further cooking.

Portion Size 1 ounce of smoked salmon equals roughly 1 slice, typically 3-4 ounces is sufficient per person. An average of 1 pound is enough for a serving of 4-5 people.
