20 minA simple, all-natural face scrub made from just three pantry ingredients: dried citrus peels, oatmeal, and blanched almonds. Everything gets blended into a fine powder that you store dry and mix with water as needed.
The oats provide gentle exfoliation and soothe skin, while the ground almonds add a slightly grittier texture for deeper cleansing. Dried lemon and orange peels contribute natural citric acid and a bright, fresh scent. Together, they make an effective scrub without any synthetic ingredients or preservatives.
Since it’s stored as a dry powder, this scrub lasts for months in an airtight container. Just scoop a small amount into your palm, add a few drops of water to form a paste, and massage gently over damp skin.
Kitchen Tips
- Dry your citrus peels in a sunny window, stirring occasionally, until completely brittle. Any remaining moisture can cause the powder to clump or spoil.
- Blend until truly fine. Coarse chunks of almond or peel can be too abrasive for facial skin.
- Store in a glass jar with a tight lid away from moisture. A dry spoon is a must every time you scoop.
Variations
- Add dried lavender buds before blending for a calming, spa-like scent.
- Mix in a teaspoon of turmeric powder for added brightening properties.
- Use as a body scrub by keeping the grind slightly coarser.
