In a pan, with heat applied,
A sauce so sweet and sour did reside,
With ingredients simple and few,
It’s a recipe that’s easy to construe.

In just a few minutes, a masterpiece is made,
A sweet and sour sauce that can’t be betrayed,
Drizzle it on chicken or a dish of fried rice,
It’ll make your taste buds feel oh so nice.

So if you’re in need of a sauce in a snap,
This sweet and sour recipe is a great catch,
With a hint of humor and a dash of delight,
You’ll be singing its praises well into the night.

TABLESPOONS ML KETCHUP

SLICE SLICE GINGER
fresh, bruised, quarter-sized *

TEASPOON ML SALT

Directions

IN A SAUCEPAN, combine the vinegar, sugar, ketchup, ginger, salt and Tabasco sauce; bring to a boil.

Continue cooking over high heat and reduce to the consistency of a light syrup that lightly coats a spoon.

Makes 1½ Cups.

Add 1/2 to one teaspoon of red hot pepper flakes for a spicy Thai-style sauce. You can also use some soy sauce instead of salt.
