| 1 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
| 1 1/2 | cup | brown sugar | |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 1 | cup | molasses | |
| 1 | cup | corn syrup | white or golden |
| 1 1/2 | cup | milk | |
| 3 | teaspoons | baking soda | |
| 1 | teaspoon | ginger | |
| 2 | teaspoons | cinnamon | |
| 6 | cups | flour, all-purpose |
Cream the shortening and sugar. Add the eggs, molasses and syrup. Then sift together the dry ingredients and alternately stir in the flour and milk. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes in a 375 degree oven. The molasses in the cookies make them very prone to burn so check often.
The recipe could be halved as this makes about 80 cookies!
This is a very good recipe. I made them for my father and he said that the cookies tasted alot like the ones his grandmother made him as a boy.

Where and when the lemon became popular in various parts of the globe is a controversial topic. While researching this article, I discovered that agreement amongst sources was, well, the ...
I found this to be rather bland so I used a can of stewed tomatoes Italian blend. Even with this addition it still needs some more seasoning. I will add mushrooms next time. With a little practice this could be a winner!
