Pound round steak thin, dust it with warm, nutty mace, then wrap it up in foil with pineapple juice and a pineapple ring on top. The steak braises gently in its own juices and that sweet-tart pineapple, coming out fork-tender and fragrant.
With just four ingredients and practically zero cleanup, this is a no-fuss weeknight dinner that feels like a little island getaway.
Kitchen Tips
- Pound the steak evenly so it cooks at the same rate throughout
- Seal the foil packet tightly to trap steam and keep the meat moist
- Use unsweetened pineapple juice and rings to keep the sugar content low, which helps if you’re watching your blood sugar
- For a faster version, the microwave method takes just 10 to 12 minutes
