1 hrsMamma’s chicken keeps it real simple with big flavor.
Lemon juice acts as both marinade and glue, helping those seasoned breadcrumbs and grated cheese stick to every piece of chicken before it hits the oven.
Sliced onions scattered in and around the pieces caramelize as everything bakes uncovered for an hour, creating sweet bits that mingle with crispy coating and juicy meat.
Pro Tips
- Double dip works: Dunk chicken in lemon juice, roll in crumbs, then lightly press coating on so it really adheres.
- Onion placement: Tuck onions between and under chicken pieces so they cook in the drippings and turn soft and golden.
- Uncovered is key: Baking without a lid lets the coating crisp up instead of steaming into mush.
