45 minThis is the kind of supper that comes together from whatever’s in the fridge and the biscuit can in the door. Creamy, cheesy, and crowned with golden biscuits, it lands right in that casserole-meets-cobbler sweet spot that kids actually finish.
The smart move is right there in the directions: you heat the filling on the stovetop first, blending soup and milk, then folding in broccoli, chicken, and cheese until it’s hot and bubbly. Pouring it into the dish piping hot means the biscuits start cooking from underneath the moment they land, so their bottoms bake through instead of staying gummy.
Separate the biscuits, lay them right on top, and bake until they puff up deep golden. Around 45 minutes, one dish, and dinner’s on the table with almost nothing to scrub afterward.
Kitchen Tips
- Get the filling hot and bubbly before adding the biscuits; that hot base is what cooks their undersides through.
- Use rotisserie or leftover cooked chicken to make this come together even faster.
- Space the biscuits apart so steam escapes and they brown evenly instead of crowding into a soft mass.
Variations
- Swap the broccoli for mixed frozen vegetables or cauliflower.
- Stir in a spoonful of Dijon or extra sharp cheddar for more punch.
