This is the franks and beans you grew up on, but with a little extra love. Hot dogs get browned in a skillet with onions until they pick up some color, then everything gets stirred together with pork and beans, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and a splash of Worcestershire for depth.
Ten minutes of simmering and dinner is done. It’s the kind of straightforward, belly-warming meal that kids demolish and adults secretly enjoy just as much.
Kitchen Tips
- Brown the frankfurters until they get some golden spots on the edges. That little bit of caramelization adds more flavor than you’d expect
- Stir gently once the beans are in the skillet. You want the beans to stay whole, not mashed
- This doubles easily for a crowd and reheats well the next day for quick lunches
