4 hrsNothing beats coming home to the rich, wine-soaked aroma of Coq Au Vin that’s been bubbling away in your crockpot all day.
This slow cooker version brings authentic French bistro flavor without the stovetop babysitting. Chicken pieces simmer for hours in robust red wine alongside smoky bacon, sweet pearl onions, and tender mushrooms.
The low and slow method makes the meat practically fall off the bone while the wine-enriched broth becomes a silky, herb-infused sauce.
Pro Tips
- Brown the chicken first for deeper flavor and golden color
- Use a dry red wine like Pinot Noir or Burgundy (save the sweet stuff for dessert)
- Add mushrooms in the last 20 minutes so they stay firm, not mushy
- Let the dish rest 10 minutes before serving for flavors to meld
