I am trying to find a 'brownie' or 'blondie' recipe that my now long past Grandma used to make for us around Christmas. I have looked through many brownie and blondie recipes, but none seem to result in what Grandma made. Here is how I remember them...
They were called a "Brown Sugar Brownie" They were 'tan' on top only an inch high and oozed sugar in the middle and contained walnuts. If left out in the air, they hardened up, but if sealed in a tin they would stay oozy gooey for a week, (like they lasted that long) My mom thinks that they were made with dark brown sugar, but I can't see how and remain 'tan' in color. The taste was almost as if light brown sugar was melting in your mouth. I want to make some for my mom, since these were her favorite.
Any ideas? would some mixture of karo and brown sugar with butter a half the flour of some brownie recipes yeild this?
