| 1 | each | onion | chopped |
| 2 | each | celery stalks | diced |
| 1 | clove | garlic | finely chopped |
| 1/4 | cup | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1 | cup | white wine | dry |
| 1/4 | cup | sherry | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | turmeric | |
| 1 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | black pepper | |
| 1 1/2 | pounds | shrimp | cleaned |
| 1 | cup | heavy whipping cream | 35 % |
| 1/2 | cup | green peas | |
| 1 | x | rice | steamed |
Notes: chicken stock may be used in place of dry white wine and in place of sherry.
Shrimp may be fresh or defrosted.
Cooked noodles may be used instead of rice.
Melt butter in a lare saucepan or Dutch oven.
Add onions,celery and garlic.
Cook a few minutes or until tender.
Sprinkle with flour and cook gently 3-4 minutes.
Whisk in wine or chicken stock, sherry, turmeric, salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil.
Cook 5 minutes.
Add shrimps and cream.
Heat thoroughly and then simmer 5 minutes.
Add peas and cook 3-5 minutes longer.
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Serve over rice or noodles.

It’s pretty amazing how in five seconds a new year can begin but you still feel the same. Sure your surroundings may drastically change (especially if you’re at Times Square in New York) but you don’t feel different. That’s the magic of New Years ...
Yes, this is amazing cornbread. Very easy to make and very delicious to eat. I think it may be the apple sauce, but I did also added whole eggs instead of just the whites, and I used whole milk. I am going to be making this cornbread often.
