| 2 | cups | pasta, elbow macaroni | |
| 6 | tablespoons | butter | or margarine |
| 1/4 | cup | flour, all-purpose | |
| 3 | cups | milk | |
| 2 | cups | american cheese | sharp, processed, shredded |
| 2 | cups | tuna, canned | drained |
| 2 | cups | apples, tart | cored, pared, diced |
| 2 | tablespoons | butter | or margarine, melted |
| 1/2 | cup | bread crumbs | soft |
Cook macaroni according to package directions, drain.
In saucepan, melt 6 tb butter or margarine over low heat.
Blend in flour and 3/4 ts salt.
Add milk all at once. Cook quickly, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and bubbles.
Add cheese, stir until cheese is melted.
Stir in tuna, diced apples and drained macaroni; turn into 12x7x2 inch baking dish.
Combine melted butter and crumbs. Sprinkle on top of casserole.
Bake in 350 degrees F. oven for 30 minutes, or until apples are tender.

Tasty, classic Salisbury recipe with the added ingredient of rice (makes the patty more tenderer). Side note I did not notice until I was half way in the recipe that I needed "cooked" rice. I accidently made 1/2 raw rice which expanded to about 1 c. Make sure to only add 1/2 c. "cooked" rice. I will definitely make this recipe again.!
