WOW. This was AMAZING! I got so many compliments on it, and a few people said they liked it better than pumpkin pie. I have to say I might just agree with that. I made it exactly as it said on the recipe, except I omitted the nuts and added a bit extra cinnamon and some pumpkin pie spice to the cake batter.

This beautiful spiced apple cake, not only satisfy the eyes but also satisfy your taste. Rich seasonal spices and lovely presentation make this a holiday treat. It's also high in fiber and low in fat! No guilt decadence.

"This cake is a rich, dark, moist fruit cake, very flavorful at Christmas. Try icing with almond paste for a more festive touch. This recipe is started in October or November so as to let it mellow before the holidays. I remember very well my mother storing her fruit cake in an old butter churn that belonged to my grandmother and great grandmother. I wish that I had that old crock."
