50 minThis is mint chocolate taken to the max, with chocolate at every level.
The chocolate chip cake mix gets a splash of creme de menthe baked right in, then gets slathered with store-bought chocolate icing for convenience without sacrificing flavor.
The mint whipped cream on top is the cool, creamy finish that makes every bite feel fancy.
Kitchen Tips
- Use a 9×13 pan for easy slicing and serving a crowd
- Refrigerate the chocolate icing layer for 10 minutes so it sets before topping
- Mix the creme de menthe into Cool Whip gently to keep it fluffy
- Garnish with shaved chocolate for a bakery-worthy presentation
- Keep refrigerated until serving for the best texture
Variations
- Peppermint version: Use white creme de menthe and add crushed candy canes on top
- From scratch: Make homemade chocolate frosting with cocoa powder and butter
- Layered look: Slice horizontally and fill with extra mint whipped cream
