Keep a bag of these in the freezer and you’ll never scramble for a last-minute appetizer again.

Sharp cheddar cheese spread gets blended with margarine, mayo, garlic powder, seasoned salt, and crab meat into a rich, spreadable mixture. Slathered onto English muffin halves, cut into quarters, and frozen on a cookie sheet. When you need them, they go straight from freezer to oven.

Ten minutes later you’ve got hot, bubbly, cheesy crab bites that taste like you spent way more than ten minutes.

Kitchen Tips

  • Freeze the muffin pieces on the cookie sheet first, then transfer to bags. This keeps them from sticking together in a clump.
  • The cheese spread and margarine should be at room temperature for easy mixing. Cold ingredients won’t blend smoothly.
  • These keep in the freezer for months, so double the batch while you’re at it. You’ll use them more often than you think.
