Red onions are cooked with balsamic vineger, brown sugar, vegetable broth, turn out very tasty, adding into the lightly boiled green beans, it is a wonderful side dish.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon canola oil
1 3/4 pounds red onions 2 large or 3 medium, cut into 16 wedges each
1 pound green beans freshly trimmed
3/4 cup broth vegetable, low-salt
1 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons brown sugar, light
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 x black pepper freshly ground to taste

Directions

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, about 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, bring a large saucepan of lightly salted water to a boil.

Add green beans and cook, uncovered, until crisp and tender, about 7 minutes. Drain.

Add vegetable broth to the onions; cook for 8 to 10 minutes.

Stir in balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, salt and pepper.

Add the beans, cover and cook for 4 to 6 minutes.

Serve.
