| 1 1/4 | cups | bran | |
| 1 | cup | pastry flour, whole wheat | |
| 2 1/2 | teaspoons | baking powder | |
| 3/4 | teaspoon | nutmeg | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | cloves, ground | |
| 1/3 | cup | milk | |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 3/4 | cup | maple syrup | |
| 1/4 | cup | butter | |
| 1 | cup | apples | green are best, chopped |
| 1 | cup | raisins, seedless | (optional) |
Combine bran, flour, baking powder, nutmeg and cloves; set aside. Cream together milk, eggs, maple syrup, and butter; fold in flour mixture. Stir in apples and raisins.
Pour into oiled muffin tins, and bake at 350 degrees until tops split, 15 to 25 minutes.

I made this recipe last year and it is bar far the best home brew I have ever tasted. The ginger gives it a unique "snap". (pardon the pun) I coulsd drink it all day!
