PALMER HOUSE PIE
(Makes Two 9-Inch Pies)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1 envelope Knox gelatine,
dissolved in 1/4 c. water
2 heaping Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vanilla
4 egg yolks or more (reduce
cornstarch if more egg
yolks are used, 5 to 6)
2 3/4 c. Carnation (or 2 c.
milk and 1/2 c. Milnot)

Put sugar and cornstarch in iron skillet and mix togeth-
er. Add enough of the milk to make a smooth paste. Add the
dissolved Knox gelatine and the egg yolks. I beat them in a
cup first before adding them to the paste mixture. Add rest of
ingredients and cook and chill. Whip 2 packages Dream Whip as
directed on package. Pour into other cooled mixture and whip
together. Pour into baked pie shells and shave sweet chocolate
on top. Keep refrigerated.
