Pumpkin roll failure

I worked till 2:00 in the morning to make a pumpkin roll using 2 recipes i have failures all over my kitchen. I don't give up easy. my mothers always were so beautiful. Mine would not roll out of the pans i tried cookie sheets and a cake pan.They all came all apart. what am i doing wrong..I was trying to do it hot. I can't afford to try all day I have 4 grandchildren to raise and they wanted this for school treats for halloween parties.. help this old lady out please and thankyou..pat

I've never made them before;however, its possible that if you're trying to roll them while still hot,that's the problem. If you try speeding up cakes, you get that same problem.

All the recipes I've found call for rolling the cake immediately out of the oven. THEN prepare the filling while letting the rolled cake cool, unroll, fill with filling and re-roll.

Mix together ingredients for pumpkin roll. Grease a 10"x15" pan, cover with waxed paper and grease again and flour. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove from oven and immediately turn onto dry dish towel that has been dusted with confectioner's sugar. Remove waxed paper and roll towel and cake together. Let set 15 minutes while you make filling. Unroll and spread with filling. Re-roll (without the towel) and refrigerate. Can be frozen.
