This no-bake fruit parfait is about as simple as dessert gets: layer sliced strawberries and bananas in glasses, pour Jello over the top, and let the fridge do the rest.

The gelatin sets around the fruit, suspending each slice in a shimmery, jewel-toned layer. A dollop of whipped topping right before serving adds a creamy contrast to the bouncy texture underneath. It’s the kind of retro dessert that shows up at potlucks and church suppers and always disappears first.

Slice the bananas right before assembling so they don’t brown. If you’re making these ahead for a party, hold off on the whipped topping until you’re ready to serve, otherwise it deflates and gets watery.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use strawberry or mixed berry Jello to complement the fruit flavors. Lime or lemon work too if you want a tangier contrast.

Directions

Divide sliced bananas and strawberries into 6 dessert glasses.

Prepare jello as directed.

Pour gelatin/jello evenly over fruit in each glass.

Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm.

Top each dessert with 1 tablespoon thawed cool whip before serving.
