| 1 | cup | whole wheat flour | |
| 1 | cup | sugar | granulated |
| 3/4 | cup | brown sugar | packed |
| 1 | tablespoon | cinnamon | ground |
| 2 | Teaspoons | baking powder | |
| 1 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | baking soda | |
| 3/4 | cup | vegetable oil | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 3 | large | eggs | |
| 2 | cups | apples | finely chopped, peeled |
| 1 | cup | walnuts | chopped |
| 1 | x | powdered sugar | or whipped cream |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | vanilla extract |
Generously grease and flour a 10- inch fluted tube pan; set aside.
In a large mixing bowl combine the flours, granulated and brown sugars, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
Add oil, vanilla, and the eggs; beat till well mixed.
Stir in chopped apples and walnuts.
Spoon batter evenly into prepared pan.
Bake in a 350-degree oven for 45 to 50 minutes or till cake tests done.
Cool in pan 15 minutes; invert cake onto a wire rack.
Cool thoroughly.
Drizzle top with powdered sugar glaze or dollop servings with sweetened whipped cream.
Powdered Sugar glaze:
In a small mixing bowl, stir together 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, and enough milk (1 to 2 tea spoons) to make of drizzling consistency.
Drizzle over cooled cake.
