Spit-Wad Sandwiches
Submitted by amanda
Peanut butter sandwiches loaded with sticky torn marshmallow “spit wads” that kids go absolutely wild for. A 5-minute no-cook snack that’s equal parts gross-out fun and sweet, gooey satisfaction.

5 minLet’s be real: the grosser the name, the faster kids eat it. These sandwiches are nothing more than peanut butter bread stuffed with torn-up marshmallow bits, but call them “spit wads” and suddenly every kid at the table is fighting over who makes theirs first.
The whole thing takes five minutes and zero cooking. Pull apart the marshmallows into messy little lumps, press them into a thick layer of peanut butter, and smash the two slices together. The marshmallow sticks to everything, which is kind of the point.
File this under Halloween party food, after-school snacks, or “things that keep kids entertained in the kitchen for more than thirty seconds."
Kitchen Tips
- Slightly stale marshmallows are actually easier to tear into convincing “wad” shapes than fresh ones.
- Let the kids make their own. The messier the process, the more fun they have, and the more likely they are to actually eat it.
- Try it with crunchy peanut butter for extra texture contrast against the gooey marshmallow.
