These microwave spiced nuts are dangerously addictive.

Pecan halves get tossed in a warm brown sugar syrup loaded with cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves, then heated until the coating crisps into a crunchy, candied shell.

No oven required, no candy thermometer needed.

They’re the kind of snack you make for holiday parties and gift bags, only to discover half the batch disappears before it ever leaves the kitchen.

Kitchen Tips

  • Work in small batches when coating the nuts. Half a cup at a time ensures every pecan gets an even, glossy coat.
  • Spread them on wax paper in a single layer to cool. Clumps are charming, but individual nuts have the best crunch.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. They also freeze well for longer storage.

Variations

  • Mix your nuts. Swap in walnuts, cashews, or almonds alongside the pecans for a party mix.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne to the spice blend for sweet-heat candied nuts.
  • Drizzle with melted dark chocolate after cooling for an extra indulgent holiday treat.
