I have been looking for this recipe since the 80's. I grew up in Hammond, IN and there was a bakery there called Superior Bakery. They made "French Fruit Slices". I loved them so much, that everytime I went home, I would have to go there and get some. They have closed and now I am French Fruit Sliceless.....Can you help me?

The french fruit slices are like a bar cookie.
They are a cake like bar with marachino cherries and walnuts. I have searched the web for a recipe that might be simular but have not found one yet. These were made at a bakery in the Chicago area.
