Ok...bear with me here...
Anyone here ever go to Benihana's or similar hibachi-style Japanese steak houses? I've been to a few here in the Northern Ohio area...Benihana, Shogun, Jin House, Hibachi Express, etc...ALL of them seem to use the SAME spice for their hibachi, be it beef, chicken, shrimp, etc..
Does anyone have ANY clue what this spice may be???
This one has been buggin' me for ages now...I know I can taste a bit of salt and pepper, but there seems to be something specific there as well...and again all those hibachi places seem to use the SAME spice
...and yes, I have tried a couple of different Togarashi peppers, so I KNOW that's not it. I've even asked a few of my local "Asian Grocery Stores" and NO ONE seems to have a clue (or they're simply not sayin...).
