Can anyone tell me what to use in place of Cool Whip in recipes? Living in the United Kingdom, I cannot buy it here, at least not in the part that I live in. Thanks

Dream whip topping is the same thing as cool whip. It should be in most UK supermarkets in a sachet usually located near the custard.
Cool whip is sold in the freezer in North America which is simply pre-prepared whipped topping. AKA, dream whip.
You could also use whipped heavy cream but that would add a significant amount of added fat and richness which may or may not be desirable.
