Hello,
I am studying on an island called Svalbard until Christmas, while this is an amazing experience the food in the one supermarket has to be shipped from the Norwegian mainland and is very very expensive.
I was wondering if anyone knows any simple recipes with as few/mostly tinned or frozen ingredients as possible that I could make and then freeze to have several times?
The food I usually prepare at home costs a small fortune to make here!
Thanks
Ben
Casseroles are one way to go. Here is a tuna casserole:
2 small cans tuna packed in water, drained
1 can peas, drained
2 cans Cream of Mushroom soup
Fill one empty soup can with milk (make from powdered milk if necessary)
1 bag crushed potato chips
Pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients in a casserole baking dish except for half the chips. Place rest of chips on top.
Bake for 40 min. at 350F. Freeze leftovers in small containers.
Try making other casseroles from canned or dried beans, dried rice, pasta, canned veggies, such as stewed tomatoes, etc. Most casseroles can be frozen.
