Hi, i'm looking for an apple fritter recipe. I've looked at every recipe I could find on the internet with not much luck. I'm trying to locate a recipe for the type that are dark brown, and glazed and they are usually very large and irregular shaped. They are also somewhat crunchy around the edges but soft like a doughnut in the middle. Many of the better doughnut shops carry these type. All the recipes I could find on the internet are nothing like this.
Here is a link to a picture of one:

Does anyone know of a recipe for an apple fritter like this?

APPLE FRITTERS

1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 Tbsp. oil
1 c. diced apple
1 c. sifted flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder

Beat egg with milk, then stir in oil and apple. Add
combined dry ingredients, stir just until mixed. Drop from a
tablespoon into deep liquid shortening heated to 365 degrees. Fry
about 4 minutes or until brown and done in the middle. Pour on
paper towels. Serve with hot Apple Fritters Syrup.

Apple Fritters Syrup:
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. water
2 tsp. maple flavoring
Mix all ingredients except maple flavoring in saucepan.
Stir to mix. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add maple
flavoring. Serve on Apple Fritters.
