My mom's basement was wiped out and we lost all the old family recipes, so I'm trying to find some that are close enough. You'd think after a lifetime of making some of these, I'd know them by heart, right?
Anyway....the one we are really in dire need of is a roll out sugar cooked. We called them Horsey Cakes. (no idea where the name came from)
I know the ingredients included cream of tartar, which was disolved in milk with either baking soda or powder - can't remember which.
You cream together sugar, shortening, vanilla and then alternate flour and the milk mixture.
I can't remember if it calls for eggs.
Help!!!
