| 1/2 | pound | green peas | whole |
| 1/2 | pound | split green peas | |
| 1 | each | smoked ham shank | uncooked |
| 1 | medium | onion | chopped |
| 1 | x | salt and black pepper | to taste |
Soak whole green peas overnight in a four quart kettle filled with water.
In the morning add split peas and remaining ingredients.
Boil slowly for about 4 hours.
Remove ham shank and serve soup without straining.

for my family in Australia,it is delicious,wonder
ful with hot buttered toast

This cake is AWESOME! I have made the recipe three times now. I am not much of a cake eater because cake is usually so dry, but this is a WINNER! One note, it may be my oven, but my cakes were done in 45 minutes.
