| 2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 1 | cup | brown sugar | |
| 1/2 | cup | oats, quick cooking | |
| 3/4 | cup | butter | melted |
| 1 | cup | sugar | |
| 3 | tablespoons | cornstarch | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | cup | water | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 6 | each | apples | peeled, cored, slice |
Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, and butter to form crumbled mixture.
Spread half of mixture in 9 x 13 inch pan.
Pat down.
Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt and water in saucepan.
Cook over moderate heat, stirring until thickened.
Add sliced apples and vanilla.
Stir to coat well.
Spread evenly over crumbly mixture in pan.
Top with remaining crumbs.
Bake in 350 degree F oven for about one hour.
Try a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
I used good quality oat muesli in crumble, brown sugar in filling and more water...+ some sherry.
I finished by topping the cake pre baking with more sugar...it was lovely..not to sweet
