| 8 | cups | water | cold |
| 1 | each | ham bone | |
| 2 | cups | split peas | |
| 1 | medium | onion | chopped |
| 1 | each | carrot | chopped |

Bring water and ham bone to a boil.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer.
