OK. I am making a Harvest Moon Cake from a cookbook from 1909. My problem is... this isn't really a cake, and doesn't use any pumpkin like most Harvest Moon's do.
I'm looking for feedback on just what this cake is. Is it a pan cake? is it really a cake?
It's really good though.
Here's the recipe...
2 cups cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup butter (I used one stick)
3/4 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
2 egg yokes
2/3 cups milk (I used one cup)
1 tsp vanillia
Sift flour and measure
Add baking powder and salt, sift together again.
Cream butter throughly
Add sugar slowly and cream until light and fluffy
Add egg yokes, beat well
Add flour and milk slowly and alternately, slowly
Add vanilla
Bake in 8x8x2 greased pan at 350 for 45 minutes
---
It's a really thick batter, and I don't feel that this is a traditional cake. but I don't know what to call it.
Anyone wanna add their thoughts on this recipe?
It tastes like maple pancakes with butter.
You can send replys to worricow+recipe@gmail.com if you wanna talk to me personally.
Thanks in advance.
