As the subject suggests, I'm looking for a recipe for typical Chinese carryout style Mala Chicken. I'd be VERY interested in a "copycat" recipe from Jumbo Buffet, however most of the carry out restaurants seem to have a similar variation!
I have looked around on the internet, however the recipes I'm seeing...stuff that's just heaped with peppers...that's NOT what I'm looking for. The MaLa Chicken we've always gotten (when we can find it) is usually a fairly simple chicken with "button" mushrooms. It has a bit of a peppery taste (black pepper maybe?) and just a little bit of zing/heat, but over all fairly mild.
Mainly I'm looking for a recipe for the sauce...I can't really remember if it uses a tradition oyster sauce or maybe a black bean sauce or what.
ANY help here would be GREATLY appreciated...my wife LOVES this stuff, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to make it!
