Help!! I am getting ready for 3 days of holiday baking and have lost my most favorite cookie recipe - the "My Great Recipes" Cardamom Cookies. These are baked in a jellyroll pan at low heat for 1 hour and then drizzled with brown butter icing - absolutely delicious. I have seen a fair number of "My Great Recipes' posted here, so am standing by with fingers & toes crossed.

These cookies are crisp with nuts and have a touch of exotic because of the spice cardamon.
The recipe makes a large batch of delicous and easy to produce cookies for the holiday
season as well as for other times of the year.
For about 4 dozen:
You will need:
1 cup soft butter or margarine
1/2 cup each granulated sugar and packed brown sugar.
1 egg, seperated
1 tsp vanilla or almond extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp gr cardamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup chopped nuts
Butter Frosting
(recipe follows)
1. Combine butter and sugars in mixing bowl. Beat until creamy and fluffy. Add egg yolk, vanilla, flour, cardamon and salt.
Mix well to form a soft ball of dough.
2. Spread mixture in ungreased 10 x by 15 inch baking pan. Brush surface with beaten egg white.
Sprinkle evenly with nuts.
3. Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour.
4. Meanwhile, prepare frosting.
Drizzle on warm cookies.

Butter Frosting:
In skillet melt 1 1/2 Tlsp butter untill slightly browns.
Beat in 1 cup powdered sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
Add enough milk to bring frosting to drizzling consistency..

I am finding this cusine very interesting and about the cookies then I will say only one thing that these are my favourite and I always love to have as, it simply melts in my mouth.
I will try this recipe out at my place as it is no doubt very good.
