I made this recipe in the '70 & have lost it. I can remember some of the ingredients, but can't remember the proportions or baking time & temp. Sure would like some help. Thank you so much for your time. It had Tuna, Rice, Lemon Juice, Tobasco Sauce, Worchester Sauce, Frozen Peas & a White Sauce
TUNA CASSEROLE (1970's)
1 can tuna
1/2 pkg. noodles or 1 cup quick cooking rice
1 c. peas (optional)
1 can mushroom soup instead of white sauce
1 c. milk
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 dash Tabasco
Boil the noodles in salted water for 13 minutes and drain. (If using rice, dump in the mixture)
Add tuna to the noodles in a buttered casserole.
Make a white sauce or use cream of mushroom soup with the cup of milk blended smoothly.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
WHITE SAUCE:
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. unsifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 c. milk
In a medium saucepan, slowly heat butter until just melted and golden, stirring all the while.
Remove from heat. Add flour, salt and pepper.
Stir until smooth. Add milk a small amount at a time, stirring after each addition.
Remove from heat and after simmering 3 minutes.
Makes 2 cups.
**Top with cheddar cheese if desire.
Serve warm
