I came across a recipe posted by a member known as Peanut Patty. It was for Bill Clayton's Gooey Butter Cake. Listed in the ingredients for the gooey filling is one cup of eggs. I've never seen eggs used as part of a buttercake topping before, and I am hoping that Peanut Patty sees this posting so she can verify this ingredient. Also, I've never heard of a recipe calling for anything but a number of eggs, and one cup seems like a lot.
Has anybody else tried this recipe?
This is the recipe posted on Taste of America.
I watch the show and it makes a thick filling.
Like cheesecake almost.
I can only tell you , this is what they made on the show.
It is a popular cake in St Louis, Mo.
My brother in law is from there. He said they were the best.
I have not made it yet.
