About two years ago, I found a delicous recipe for scalloped potates made with gruyere cheese and heavy cream on this site. I made this for Easter dinner and it was a smash. I have been asked to make the recipe again but can't find the copy. Can someone please help. jan8452
Try this one:
SPECIAL SCALLOPED POTATOES
1 lg. clove garlic, minced
1 shallot, chopped
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
3 tbsp. butter, melted
1 1/4 c. milk
1 1/2 c. whipping cream
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper
2 1/2 lbs. red potatoes, unpeeled & cut into 1/2" slices
1 c. (4 oz.) shredded Gruyere cheese or Swiss
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Saute garlic, shallot and crushed red pepper in butter in a Dutch oven 2 minutes. Add milk and next 3 ingredients, stirring well. Add the sliced potatoes; bring mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 12"x8"x2" baking dish. Sprinkle with Gruyere and Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Let stand 30 minutes before serving. Yield: 8 servings.
