A show-stopping layered smoothie with three distinct berry tiers: strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry, each blended with tangy buttermilk. Ready in 8 minutes, gorgeous enough for brunch, easy enough for kids.

Three berries. Three layers. One seriously gorgeous glass.

Each berry gets its own spin in the blender with buttermilk and a touch of sugar, then gets poured into chilled glasses one layer at a time.

The result is a striped, sunset-colored smoothie that looks like it belongs on a brunch menu but takes less than 10 minutes to pull together.

Buttermilk gives each layer a tangy creaminess that balances the fruit sweetness, and frozen berries keep everything thick and frosty without needing ice.

Top with fresh raspberries and maybe a swirl of whipped cream, and watch the kids (and adults) line up.

Pro Tips

  • Pour slowly over a spoon. Tilt a spoon against the inside of the glass and pour each layer over the back of it. This keeps the layers distinct instead of blending together.
  • Work quickly. The layers start to melt and merge if you take too long. Have your berries measured and ready to go before you start blending.
  • Chill the glasses first. Pop them in the freezer for 10 minutes while you prep. Cold glass helps each layer hold its shape.
  • Swap buttermilk for yogurt. Greek yogurt thinned with a splash of milk works if you don’t have buttermilk on hand. You’ll get the same tangy richness.
