Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup onion chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper ground
1 loaf bread, french
2 cups sour cream
2 each tomatoes seeded and diced
1 large green bell pepper diced
3 cups cheddar cheese shredded
1 x butter

Directions

In a skillet, brown ground beef and onion.

Drain. Add salt, garlic powder and pepper.

Cut bread lengthwise in half; butter both halves and place on baking sheet.

Remove meat mixture from the heat; stir in sour cream. Spoon onto the bread.

Sprinkle with tomatoes, green pepper and cheese. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted (bake longer for crispier bread).

Basic Meat Loaf

I made this recipe using 1/2 cup bread crumbs instead of the slices of bread. I did not happen to have worchesteshire sauce, so I substituted soy sauce. It was the best meat loaf I had ever made!
