| 1 | cup | almonds | ground |
| 1 | cup | cashew nuts | unsalted and ground |
| 1 | cup | sugar | |
| 13 | ounces | evaporated milk | |
| 1/2 | stick | butter |
Melt 1/2 stick of butter in a heavy skillet. Add milk. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil.
Low heat and cook until milk thickens.
Add nuts and sugar.
Stir.
Cook for 10 mins.
Turn off heat.
Pour mixture on to a flat dish and spread evenly with the back of a spoon.
Cool.
Cut into small squares.

This is one of my favorite holiday recipes. My grandmother made these for me when i was a child. Although the red sugar will turn your fingers a delightful red, this is a sure sign for the kids that their favorite cookie is on the way!! Also, the coconut is optional. Delicious.
