Ingredients

2 pounds chicken cut up into parts
8 ounces pineapple chunks
1 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 large onion
1 medium green bell pepper
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Directions

Drain pineapple, reserving syrup. In skillet brown chicken in shortening. Pour off fat. Add reserved syrup, broth, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce and garlic. Cover and cook over low heat 40 minutes. Add green pepper amd pineapple cook 5 minutes. Combine cornstarch and water gradually stir into sauce.
