just wondering if there is anyone out there who would have the recipe for a tray bake. I used to make this years ago when i was a child and have not been able to lay my hands on it since. It consisted of melting butter, sugar and syrup together and then mixing your rice krispies in the mixture. You then proceed to put the mixture into a tin and press down. It was optional to add melted chocolate on top. once cooled you cut into squares. I have been trying to replicate this but without much success. I am not getting the quantities correct. I know there are lots of recipes for krispie tray bakes using marshmallows, but the one which i used to make did not contain any. Hope that someone will have this recipe. Would be most grateful if you could share your knowledge.
many thanks

i am not too sure weather you will be able to make them without marshmellows but i have a recipe using marshmellos which i am quite happy to share so i hope that it will be usefull for you.
ingredients:
110g (4oz) wrapped toffee or slab toffee
100g (4oz) margarine
100g (4oz) marshmellows
100g (4oz) rice crispies
a shallow tin 27.5 x 17.5cm (11x7in)
rolling pin if desired
wooden spoon
method:
1. grease the tin. if you are using slab toffee, put it in a plastic bag and break it up with a rolling pin.
2. put the toffee, margarine and the marshmellows into a large pan. melt them very gently over a low heat stirring all the time. (they wil take about 15mins to melt)
3. when everything has melted and blended together, take the pan off heat. gently stir in the rice crispies.
4. spoon the mixture into the tin and press it gently with the back of a metle spoon. leave the mixture to set, then cut it up.
