Shaker Sage Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 package active dry yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
2 teaspoons dried sage leaves
1/4 cup wheat germ
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Directions:
In a small saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, salt and 1 tablespoon butter. Heat to lukewarm (the butter does not have to melt completely).
Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Add lukewarm milk mixture. Stir in sage, wheat germ and 2 cups flour. Add remaining flour to make a soft dough. Knead lightly until smooth. Let rise in warm spot, covered until doubled.
Melt remaining butter. Pour half of it in a 9-inch round cake pan or glass dish.
Divide dough into equal pieces. Shape into balls. Place in pan. Drizzle with remaining melted butter. Cover. Let rise until almost doubled, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 400 for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown. Serve hot or reheat before serving.
