| 2 | pounds | ground beef | |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 1 1/2 | cup | bread crumbs | |
| 3/4 | cups | ketchup | |
| 1/2 | cup | water | warm |
| 1 | each | onion soup mix | |
| 2 | slices | bacon | optional |
| 8 | ounces | tomato sauce |
Mix all ingredients except bacon and tomato sauce. Put in a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Cover with 2 strips of bacon. Pour tomato sauce over meat. Bake 1-1/2 hours at 350.
This is a classic! It was a staple when I was a child and have now made it a regular in my home. It's good to see the recipe live on!

Tips for presenting a holiday dip with class....
My family just loved this chicken dish! It doesn't specify in the recipe, so I used 3.5lb chicken. I also substituted beer with white wine, for I did not have beer in our fridge. Added grated ginger instead of orange peel. Very flavorful and the gravy-like sauce was fabulous with rice.
