| 2/3 | cup | brown sugar | acked |
| 2/3 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
| 1 1/3 | cups | molasses | |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 5 1/2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 4 | teaspoons | cinnamon | ground |
| 2 | teaspoons | ginger | ground |
| 2 | teaspoons | baking soda | |
| 1 | teaspoon | salt |
Mix brown sugar,shortening and molasses.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Roll dough 1/2 inch thick on a lightly floured cloth covered board.
Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Place about 1inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake until no indentation remains when touched, about 7 to 8 minutes;cool.
Frost and decorate as desired.

I'ver made this cookie for years. It's my kids favorite cookie. I make it every Halloween...decorate with powdered sugar frosting tinted orange and green...candy corn eyes and nose and a chocolate chip mouth. People ask where I bought them. They are so cute and extremely delicious! **** four stars
