| 3 | tablespoons | olive oil | |
| 1 | pound | beef | ground |
| 1 | pound | pork | ground |
| 1 | each | onion | chopped |
| 1/2 | each | green bell pepper | chopped |
| 3 | cloves | garlic | minced |
| 5 | cups | tomatoes, canned | crushed |
| 1/4 | cup | tomato paste | |
| 1 | tablespoon | chili powder | |
| 2 | teaspoons | basil | leaves - ground |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | cloves | ground |
| 3 | each | bay leaves | |
| 2 | cups | chicken broth | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1/4 | teaspoon | cayenne pepper |
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef, pork, onion, green pepper, and garlic and sauté until browned, about 10 minutes. With a slotted spoon to drain off the fat, place the sautéed ingredients in a 4 quart saucepan. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Slowly bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours.
It was great! Easy to prepare and very flavorful. One of the better spaghetti sauces I've tried.
