| 1 | cup | scallions, spring or green onions | finely chopped |
| 1 | x | cayenne pepper | ground |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | baking soda | |
| 1 | cup | flour, all-purpose | |
| 2 | tablespoons | bacon drippings | hot |
| 2 | large | eggs | beaten |
| 1/2 | cup | parsley leaves | finely chopped |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking powder | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | garlic powder | to taste |
| 1 | cup | buttermilk | |
| 1 | x | fat | for frying |
| 1 | teaspoon | salt |
Combine all dry ingredients.
Add eggs, buttermilk, onions, and oil or bacon drippings.
Mix well. Drop in deep hot fat by spoonfuls and brown on all sides.
