| 1/2 | cup | butter | |
| 2 | tablespoons | cocoa powder | |
| 1/4 | cup | milk | |
| 1/2 | cup | butter | |
| 1/2 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
| 1/2 | cup | coffee | strong brewed |
| 1/2 | cup | liqueur | coffee flavor, such as kahlua |
| 2 | cups | flour, all-purpose | |
| 2 | cups | sugar | granulated |
| 1/4 | cup | cocoa powder | |
| 1/2 | cup | buttermilk | |
| 2 | large | eggs | |
| 1 | teaspoon | baking soda | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 3 1/2 | cups | powdered sugar | |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract | |
| 1 | x | chocolate covered espresso beans | optional |
Preheat oven to 400.
FOR FROSTING: In saucepan, combine butter, cocoa and milk.
Bring to a boil.
Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar until frosting reaches proper consistency.
BROWNIES: In another saucepan, combine butter, shortening, coffee and liqueur.
Stir, let boil.
In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour and sugar.
Pour butter- shortening mixture over the flour and sugar in bowl.
Add the buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla.
Pour into well buttered 17x1/2 by 11in. jelly roll pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until brownies test done in the center.
Frost brownies immediately.
Garnish with expresso beans. Let cool until ready to eat, then cut into bars.
